Covid 19 wedding elopement boston ma

Intimate Boston Wedding // Mr. and Mrs. Cote

May 8, 2020

When the covid-19 pandemic hit everyone’s lives and schedules were totally disrupted. For those brides and grooms planning weddings – a new level of stress hit. Choosing to postpone a wedding you’ve been planning for months (or years) just seemed impossible. Not postponing seemed irresponsible. There was no way to win. The government put mandates into place and has allowed gatherings of 10 or less – finally a solution for those who wanted to still say , “I do!”  Two of those people are Justine and Jay. As a healthcare worker, Justine’s life has been on the front lines . This couple wasn’t about to let Covid ruin their special day – they were going to get married!!

Exchange of Vows at Piers Park, East Boston

The sun was shining and Piers Park in East Boston had just a few walkers and joggers strolling by the morning of Justine and Jay’s intimate Boston wedding. Only their family members and I were in attendance,  less than 10 people, all who of which were honored to stand by them as their shared vows and sealed the deal!!!! All the emotion was real as the gusts of wind that whipped by. Cheers of delight were hear all over East Boston when Justine’s cousin, pronounced them Husband and Wife!

After the nuptials, toasts and cake were shared.  They cut the cake with the same sterling silver cake server from Justine’s great grandmother’s wedding, 102 years ago. Her  great-grandparents were married during the 1918 Spanish flu pandemic,  guess this family has a rich history of making the best of moments during unprecedented times!

Wedding Drive By Celebration

Our small group then headed to Larz AndersonPark in Brookline for a special drive-by from wedding guests and more family members! This “wedding party” took it very seriously and clanged glasses, honked horns, held signs, blasted music and blew bubbles! The excitement was overwhelming and just what we all needed – a lot of laughter and tons of smiles. Justine and Jay then shared their first dance – the DJ was her brother and the “system” was her mother’s car. I’m sure never in a million years did this couple envision their wedding day this way – but I’m also pretty sure they wouldn’t change a thing now!

Congrats Justine and Jay and then you for trusting me to capture this monumental moment in your life and our country’s history.
