MATERNITY & NEWBORN PORTRAITS // Planning ahead for Baby!

April 5, 2017

Are you pregnant?!?! No, I am not pregnant, and am very happy with my three growing boys, if you must ask. 🙂

But maybe you’re pregnant? Or you have a friend who is! What an exciting time. So many moments of anticipation: from finding out you’re expecting, deciding if you’ll reveal the gender or keep it a secret, building a registry, “nesting”, preparing older siblings for a new addition, and having a baby shower; it’s all so fun whether this is your first or 4th child.

When it comes to baby there can also be a load of doctor’s appointments, lots of tired days, and many to-do lists. Here are a few tips to make this time less stressful when planning a maternity & newborn sessions so you know what to expect! You can also check out my NEWBORN & MATERNITY GUIDE for how I approach sessions and what to expect if booking with Allie.PHOTO.

  1. Maternity sessions are during your third trimester when your belly is nice and round. Between 30-37 weeks is a great time frame to consider, based on your comfort level and schedule.

  2. Feel free to book your schedule with plenty of time in advance especially if you are in need of a weekend session. I suggest doing them during golden hour, about 1.5 hours before sunset, so we can get beautiful light to accentuate this gorgeous time of your life.

  3. YES! You can save money by booking your Maternity & Newborn Sessions together!

  4. Newborn sessions are usually between 5-10 days after birth. Babies change so rapidly and this is the best time to capture them while they’re so tiny. I am available during the week, mornings or afternoons, while you are on “parental leave” from work.

  5. We do these photos in the comfort of your own home, but I bring props and lots of goodies to transform any place into a perfect Newborn “studio.”
