No season or session is always “picture perfect.” In the midst of capturing gorgeous memories, silly things sometimes happen! I live for these moments. They are the parts of life that make us all the same.
“Laugh loudly, laugh often, and most importantly – laugh at yourself” – Chelsea Handler
I started collected “outtakes” from many of my sessions this year while editing. Often times I just click delete and keep moving, but other times I end up laughing out loud at a photo and know that you would all appreciate a good laugh, too. A camera’s click is just a fraction of second, but other times these moments are interactions that make my job so much fun. You’ll see a lot of newborn photos feautured here, because their older sibilngs and furr-friends made for a few good memories!
If you’re featured in this blog and want the high resolution for free of this “outtake” just email me and I’ll send it over for you to enjoy admist your beautiful memories.
NEWBORNS: Allie.Photo newborns are constantly harassed by older siblings and pets who also want a part of the spotlight. When parents apologize, I just laugh. I was a third child and most of my newborn photos are of my older brother hitting me in the head with a plastic cow! Two of my favorites here are the older kids who are just “done” with the session being all about their new little addition. They either wanted the attention themselves or wanted me to play with them. (Not kidding…)
FURRY FRIENDS: Dogs are especially expressive during many of my photo session, or they just choose to lay in the middle of the room, right where we want to walk and are sure to be in the way. One especially funny pup actually tried to jump in the crib with their newborn brother! Another of my favorite little dogs, Richard, always steals the show with a real smile or a wide mouth grin! (Reminder: Your dogs are always welcome to join us at a session! Just let me know ahead of time so we can plan a location that works for pups!)
THE COUPLE WHO LAUGHS TOGETHER: During weddings and engagement photo sessions there is never a dull moment. Maybe a kiss lands on a nose instead of the lips (see below), or the groomsmen are NEVER ready, or you’re just not sure how to twirl?? In between creating gorgeous photos these things often happen. I love the shot of the couples in the city. One juxtaposed next to an older couple who is almost thinking out loud, “Were we young and in love like that once?!” The other, a great photo, but pan to the right and see another couple really enjoying all that Boston has to offer! And be honest – a runaway viel is always hillarious, too – after the fact of course!
FAMILY FUN: Disclaimer: I promise I photograph many happy children and most of the children shown here were happy for the duration of the session. As a parent we all know how much it takes to bring together the family for a photo session, the weather doesn’t always cooperate and the kiddos often need a nap – but we make it happen and are so glad we did. High fives go out to all these parents who also put up with toungues died blue from bribery treats, tears from their little ones, hair pulling, and complaining. I salute you!
