What is the most exciting part of a portrait session; Getting ready? Taking the photos? The fun you have at the session? NO! The best part is seeing your images – the final result! After every session I know most clients are dying to know
” When do I get to see my images?” This blog post will outline the process for you, so you can know what to expect!
After our session I pride myself on providing “Sneak Peeks” as soon as possible! It’s usually within in 24 hours, but never more than 48 hours.
What is a “sneak peek”?
A sneak peek is one or two of my favorites images, that I share with you through social media or email. I often choose images that tell a story, give a little “context” to your session, or are just some of my favorites due to their artistry. This doesn’t mean they are the absolute “best of the session”, they are just some favorites that I artistically love and wanted to share!
After you get to see sneak peeks you may see more behind the scenes or extra images on instagram or Facebook as I work to complete your proofing gallery. Proofing galleries contain the best images from our time together. I go through hundreds of photos and choose the ones that have the best light, best emotions, and most beautiful composition. I also choose images that I know you’ll love, for example; If your child did something crazy – that might be included! If something funny or silly happened during our time together, that “outtake” may just become a favorite, so it’s included too. I love to show you as “real” as possible and think you deserve to see all the best shots of our time together. The number of images varies from session to session and how “cooperative” your family may be.
Between 7-14 days after your session, you receive your proofing gallery to view the images. You have up to 2 weeks to select your favorite mages from it. The online gallery that I email you is very user friendly and you can create a “favorites list” with ease! Please plan to view the images on your laptop or desktop computer, that is always a better idea than just on your phone. These images do have watermarks, and are not touched up. That means, they still need some specific edits to make them absolutely perfect for printing and displaying.
If you simply cannot choose favorites, don’t worry – you can purchase all the digital files for an additional fee. Take a look at your contract for “full gallery pricing” and decide if that is a better option for you. You can also purchase a’la carte images one at a time.
So, turn around time ultimately depends on you and how long it takes for you to select your favorites. IFinal editing is usually 3-5 days after selections, but in busy season that time can increase to 7-10 days. rf you take he full two weeks, but you may drop down in the “final editing” queue. But, to review: from photo day to final delivery you may have all your images in 2 weeks time or sooner.
I love that you can enjoy these photos quickly, share them with family and friends, and create timeless printed memories with the images. As a mom, I know how hard it is to wait for photos and want to be sure you don’t have to!
What about weddings?
For wedding photography the turn around time is a bit longer, but all my 2019 weddings were delivered within 5 weeks of your wedding day. Blog posts are posted with favorite images within 10 days so you have tons of images of your day to enjoy!!!
