I’ve been waiting to do Boston Public Garden Family photos for years! This is in my top 3 for favorite locations (see more here) and it was finally time for my family to be photographed here. Every year I hire a photographer to capture my family, at least once, to “practice what I preach”. This year our session was captured by Soho Photography and I couldn’t be happier with the photos. They truly show off my family’s happiness and personality and that is always the goal for a session.
We met up at Boston Public Garden on a Monday evening, during covid-times, so there were very few people. It felt like we had the garden to ourselves! It happened to be unseasonably warm for late September, over 80 degrees! I had planned multi-layered outfits for all of us, be we improvised and still coordinated.
3 Top Tips for What to Wear and Capturing your Family Photos at Boston Public Garden:
1. I highly recommend choosing a weeknight if you don’t want a “sprinkling” of background onlookers in your photos. See weekend session examples here and compare to my weekday session.
2. The garden is VERY green 3 seasons of the year thanks to the wonderful landscaping, so wear green as an accent color only – not your primary color.
3. Wear shoes you can walk a mile in. Literally, a mile! If you want to see lots of areas in the garden you may hit your 10,000 step mark for the day. There are gems on every corner of this gorgeous landscape.
