One of the greatest joys of being a photographer is capturing other’s love stories. Another great joy is travelling to new places and photographing something different every day. Chicago has a big place in my heart, because I’m a midwest girl. I grew up visiting Chicago and always being in love with the magic of this city. For Sarah and Matt’s engagement photos it was a truly dreamy night. The fog had been rolling across Lake Michigan and settling in between buildings all week, when I touched down early that morning I wasn’t sure if the fog would lift or if we’d have a dreary night, instead it was perfect! The softness of the clouds and the misty skyline make these images so unique.
Matt and Sarah have been together since 2014 and are building their lives together in this great city! They are so “easy” together – effortless. This past December Matt proposed, on a rooftop overlooking a chilly windy city, and their plans for a city wedding began!
But – first engagement photos!!! I love that Matt and Sarah chose a local park to start their session at. Their little pup, Joan, joined us. She was quite the model and a perfect centerpiece. Matt had always wanted a dog and as soon as Sarah mentioned getting one he coudn’t wait – and knew she was definitley the girl for him! Joan makes them both light up and is defintily an adored little pup. Chicago is such a “dog-friendly city” and this park was filled with cute dogs, like Joanie. The three of love them love to take walks after work and visit the dog park right down the street. One of the charms of this area, Wicker Park, is the beautiful murals and bright colors, as well as the creative architeture. The bright mural and gorgeous pedestrian bridge made for perfect backdrops.
Afterward we strolled through Old Town and stopped at North Avenue Beach for sklyine photos. The fog added such a romatic feel!!! Scroll down to enjoy it all.
Congrats Sarah & Matt – I’ll see you in March!!!!
