When I tell people that my best friends have 10 kids, I often get “wide eyed” responses. Imagine the looks they get when walking into Target or a restaurant? With ten kids ages 12-2 there is always a lot going on, but what is most amazing is the love and heart behind this family. I am honored that Meghan and Travis are my friends and have marveled over the growth of their family. Their heart of adoption and fostering is unlike any other couple I know. What truly amazes me is how easy they make it seem. It DEFINITELY is not easy – but they didn’t choose this life – it chose them. Once awakened to the crisis of the foster care situation in their county ( and the country as a whole ) they knew they couldn’t sit aside and do nothing.
As they opened their home to many children, 6 have come to join their “Forever Family.” These six are seamless additions and we all love them so much.
I read this quote that Meghan shared recently and it sums up their family perfectly, “(This) family was formed because of brokenness. But, as a family, we get to show people the kind of beautiful God can make out of something broken.” – K.Faith Morgan.
You may call it chaos – they call it family and I call it BEAUTIFUL!!
Photographing a big family like this is no task for a rookie! I’m glad I had plenty of tricks up my sleeves and these kids have had a lot of practice. For these spring family photos I love what they chose to wear! Meghan often chooses to match her boys and girls in identical outfits (for ease, of course :)) but this was the first time they chose to mix and match. This gave each child a chance to wear something they love and express their own style and personality a bit. Most outfits were purchased from the same places so they could easily match colors and fabrics. If a family fo 12 can mix and match outfits – you can, too!!!
